Imagine sitting at a candlelit table in a small, warm room in Alfama.

The lights are low.

A glass of wine in front of you.

And then — without announcement — the music begins.

Not a show. Not a performance for tourists.

Just a voice, a guitarra portuguesa, and the kind of silence that only happens when something is truly real.

Most travelers never find this

They spend hours comparing reviews, reading conflicting recommendations, and hoping they've chosen the right place — only to arrive at something like this:

  • poor or generic menus
  • overcrowded spaces
  • rushed tables and fast service
  • overpriced tourist experiences
  • no real intimacy with the music

And the worst part?
You only realize it when it's too late to change it.

That's why I created Lisbon Fado Insider

I've spent six years in Lisbon finding the places worth your night

The venues I work with don't show up on the first page of Google.

They're not on every tourist list.

They're the ones where fado still feels like fado — and where guests tell me, months later, it was the best night of their trip.

If you want an authentic fado night — message me.
I'll send you to the right place.

This is not a booking platform.

This is a personal curation — from someone who lives here.

Selected Fado experiences — curated personally

I don’t publish the full venue list publicly because the right choice depends on your date, group size, atmosphere, menu needs and availability.

Message me with your date — I'll send you to the right place.

Not All Fado Nights Feel the Same.

Many travelers spend hours comparing reviews, photos and recommendations, hoping they've chosen the right experience.

Some discover crowded dining rooms.

Others find performances

  • that feel rushed,
  • commercial,
  • or disconnected from the soul of Lisbon.

The truth is that Fado is not just music.

It is the room. The atmosphere. The silence between songs. The emotion that travels from the singer to the people sitting just a few meters away.

Most venues have forgotten this.

The ones I work with never did.

I got tired of seeing travelers waste their Fado night

I'm Giorgia — Sicilian, 34, and I've been living in Lisbon for six years.

Before this city, I spent a decade as a flight attendant.
I learned fast which places had something real to offer — and which ones were just performing for tourists.

When I moved here, I founded Lisbon Exclusive Tours: experiential, gastronomic tours for high-end travelers. Most of my clients were American and Canadian. And every single one of them asked the same thing: where should we go for fado?

I watched too many of them come back disappointed. Overcrowded rooms. Generic food. Fado performed like a product, not a feeling.

Lisbon has changed — the authentic culture is still here, but you have to know where to look.

Every time, I knew exactly where they should have gone instead.

So I built this — a personal way to book the fado dinners I'd recommend to my own family. In the historic restaurants that still take both the food and the music seriously.

Ready for your fado night? Message me

This is why the experience feels different.

Because it is not built around filling tables at any cost.

It is built around one thing: sending you to the right place, on the right night, without stress.

- You do not need to guess where to go.

- You do not need to message five restaurants and wait for replies.

- You do not need to arrive unsure about the menu, the price, or the seats.

You tell me your date. I send you to the right place

FAQ

What time does the evening end?

The experience runs until midnight. There's no rush and no fixed end time. Fado sittings are typically 8–10pm or 10pm–midnight. Tell me your preference when you book and I'll arrange accordingly

I'm traveling solo. Will it be awkward?

Not at all. Solo travelers often have the best fado nights. Nothing to distract you when the music starts.

Is there a dress code?

Smart casual. Think "nice dinner out" — not a gala, not a pub. If you're unsure, just ask me before you arrive.

Can I get there by Uber?

Yes — Uber gets you close. Alfama's streets are narrow, so expect a short walk at the end. I'll send you the exact address and arrival instructions after booking.

What if I have dietary restrictions?

Tell me when you book. I'll make sure the restaurant is ready for you before you arrive. Vegetarian and vegan options are available.

Why do I pay €20 to you and €45 at the restaurant?

The venues I work with are small and sell out fast — especially on weekends and in high season. The €25 deposit secures your table and is deducted from your total on the night. You pay the remaining €45 directly at the restaurant. No hidden fees, no surprises

Is the fado performed every night?

Yes — every night of the week. Just tell me your date and your table will be waiting.

Can I book for a group?

Yes. I work with groups of all sizes. Send me your date and number of guests — I'll take care of everything.

Who exactly am I booking with?

You're booking directly with me — Georgia, an Italian living in Lisbon for six years. I'm not an agency, not a platform, not a chatbot. When you message me, I respond personally. I've helped hundreds of American and Canadian travelers find the right fado night — and I stand behind every reservation I make.

Is this legitimate? How do I know I can trust you?

A fair question. I've been working in Lisbon's tourism industry for six years, first with Lisbon Elite Tours and now with this service. The venues I work with are real, established places — not pop-ups or tourist traps. The deposit is processed securely and deducted from your bill on the night. You can also find me on Instagram — @lisbonfadoinsider — if you want to see who you're dealing with before you book.

What if I need to cancel?

The €25 deposit is non-refundable. When you book, I personally coordinate with the venue and reserve your table — that work happens regardless of whether you show up. If your plans change, message me as early as possible and I'll do my best to move your reservation to another date.
